APPLYING FOR CCP for 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR

IMPORTANT NOTES BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

  • Complete these steps IN ORDER.
  • Use your PERSONAL email with colleges NOT your GLS email.
  • The student MUST be a part of each of these steps.
  • EVEN IF CCP CLASSES APPEAR ON YOUR GHS SCHEDULE, YOU STILL MUST FOLLOW THESE STEPS and GET ACCEPTED TO THE COLLEGE(S).

CHECKLIST (with Links) TO APPLY FOR CCP:

  1. INFORMATION: Attend a mandatory CCP meeting or watch the information video. Check announcements and emails for dates and times. 
  2.  INTENT TO ENROLL: Complete the Intent to Enroll by APRIL 1 at 11:59pm (Students must be logged into their GLS account)
  3.  ACT: Register and prepare for the December, February or April ACT  or SAT (Juniors will take the ACT at GHS in February). 
    • When you register, request the scores be sent directly to the college(s) you are applying to (up to 4 for free). We recommend Akron, Kent Main & Stark branches, and Stark State
    • Use the GHS school code 365-140 when registering

  4. APPLY online to the correct college(s) as a CCP student at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline
  5. SPECIAL DOCUMENTS:  Submit the following for the college(s) you are applying to per the instructions on the forms 
  6. FOLLOW ANY ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR EACH COLLEGE: Check their websites from step 4 above and your email

  7. TRANSCRIPT: Request your transcript AFTER YOU HAVE APPLIED   

IMPORTANT REMINDERS AFTER YOU APPLY:

  • MALES: If a male CCP student is turning 18, they are required to file their Selective Service number. This can be done at www.sss.gov

  • RECORD: Write down ALL usernames and passwords for each college

  • EMAILS: READ ALL EMAILS (personal & University). Follow directions for placement testing, required orientations, and scheduling information. Check your Spam and Promotions folders.
  • ACCEPTANCE: If you do NOT get an acceptance letter or email within 2-3 weeks of applying, contact the college representative. You MUST be accepted to the college in order to take a CCP class.
